Generally optimistic in the face of near certain doom, maker of things, caretaker of lives wild and otherwise
I took a collage class at RAL here in town and it was a hoot. No I don’t think this is my art form of choice but gluing things to other things is just as satisfying at 57 as it was at 7. Also, it’s a bouquet of potatoes and they sort of look like dog wieners. 😃

Found more old paints. They’re again more pearlescent than metallic except the gold but honestly not bad for ? 20 year old watercolors

Wanted to try out some theoretically metallic watercolors. They weren’t. Good for sea glass colors tho maybe

I thought this was super interesting as a person with autistic traits, poor social skills, good visual skills, and also a fair bit of Neanderthal dna according to 23 and me.

This me. :)

We got a fancy coffee maker that also makes cappuccino and now most evenings, we feel so continental drinking our crappaccino with a bit of cake.

Making your own bread sounds really difficult but if you have any time it is not. I’m a sloppy baker and mostly wing it till dough looks and feels like it should but there are tons of great recipes using only flour water salt yeast or starter. And an oven. ❤️

The sweetest dog I’ve ever known died yesterday. My baby, Mooch. I miss her. Pictured here with Mrs retired chicken and hatey the cat back in 2022. My heart.

I’m not smart at football but this score seems kinda lopsided. 31 points is a lot, yah?

Todays amusing donation photo. Someone donated a plant identification book. Look at the cool leaves it had pressed inside!

I got to visit Stride near Palmer yesterday and see the horses. This is Cedar. I’m a little scared of horses even though I love them because they are so big. The horses at stride are mostly older and very calm and low key and unintimidating. It was great ❤️

This was someone else’s idea on Pinterest but it intrigues me since I think I can embed information or messages in the dots. This one contains no such message but maybe later variations will.

Steganography?

I haven’t painted much in a while for a lot of reasons. The biggest reason is that the whole world seems to be sliding into the shitter and it’s hard so hard to keep handing out daisies. You know? But maybe, maybe making little flowers is all I can do. Maybe that is me pushing back at the meanness

Nothing much to say. Here’s a bread picture that brings me comfort

I volunteer/work at a library adjacent used book store. We get really nifty stuff donated regularly and then nobody buys it and it ends up selling for a dollar or worse, heads to the recycle bin. So I’ll be selling books here too. If you see a thing you love, message me and we will make it yours

Every morning, I put out food scattered about so the birds have space to eat. Every morning, there are skirmishes for the sunflower seeds, domineering doves, fat squirrels. As they eat, you can see that for them at that moment, all is well. Nothing is trying to kill them and their bellies are full.

We just had dinner and Joe told me that there are human tapeworms 50 feet long or more so if you’ve ever wondered what we are like socially, that’s it in a nutshell. Also we talked about the parasitic wasps that colonize tomato hornworms over post prandial coffee. Invite us to your next party.

Still in the excessively mundane period of social media adoption. I made shepherds pie except with duck and a soup concoction. It’s in the oven. Also, I’ve been cackling like a banshee all day over the state of the world because honestly it’s that or cry.

Did I mention the shepherds pie?

There’s always this period in social medias where you have close to no friends or followers so you’re really just posting for yourself. And that seems silly. So you don’t. Or the early posts become this awkward journal of the mundane.
