Not normally one to dunk on Matt Yglesias, but points (2) and (3) seem to have been written before the election and are predicated on thinking there is a large distinction between Spanberger's 14.6 point win and Sherrill's 13 point win?

Rather insane that Dems went from 34/100 seats in the VA HoD in 2016 to 63 seats in 2025.
Dems are also leading in 57/80 seats in the NJ General Assembly, which would be their biggest majority in half a century.

A Democratic party rising to the moment is one that redistricts Maryland. But it's also one that forces out Matt Dunlap.

This seems like a pretty reasonable analysis of their data, so naturally it's yielding a deranged response.

One can want a less censorious Democratic party -- and one that runs a more ideologically heterogeneous candidate slate -- while still thinking *some things* are disqualifying.

Notable that Dems are keeping pace with Republicans in ballot return rates for Prop 50 so far. Mail vote is D+23. It was D+19 at the end of EV in 2024.

RESULT: Adelita Grijalva is heading to Congress.
The Democrat has won the #AZ07 special election very easily, and she will replace her father Raúl Grijalva. AP just called it.
Among other things, Grijalva is expected to be the 218th person to sign the Epstein discharge position.

Why is it that progressives support upzoning and moderates oppose it on the LA City Council, but the dynamic is typically the inverse on the SF Board of Supervisors?

The LA Podcast discussion about Measure ULA is disgraceful. Less than two minutes spent on the central criticism of ULA: it’s not a true mansion tax as most of its revenue is raised from the sale of apartments and commercial buildings.
