Today's a day for commemorating WWI memorials not urban planning, but will make an exception to note this horrific idea.

2. Victory Memorial Parkway in Minneapolis. I try not be parochial, but this is one of the best. ~ 4 miles of parkway with a tree planted for every soldier from Hennepin County who died in the Great War.

Basically. Barr makes a distinction between transfers between groups at a point in time (rich -> poor, redistribution) and social insurance as facilitating transfers between the same person at different points in their life. Obviously (?) welfare states do it all in one go through taxes.

4/ Only 1 ward where mayoral/Council winner in different factions: Ward 12. @aurinmpls.bsky.social rules, but a measure of Becka Thompson’s racist face-plant is Frey got 55% here.
… Minneapolis wards sorted along mayoral lines, much like Congressional Districts now sort by presidential preference.

Whatever one's political persuasions the fact that it was the top two candidates who saw the most undervotes, probably indicates that most voters are participating with decent understanding of the system. I'm old enough to remember two poli sci professors skeptical Minnesotans could count to 3.

I will leave it to others to judge the ideology/animus etc, and just judge it purely on participation in the voting system as it now exists. I suspect it tells us that Frey voters were very confident he'd be in the final two, and you can sort of see that for Fateh voters too.

If you look at United States lot sizes you'd almost think that urban planners were regulating a land without sewer systems.
