In Colombia, the military did overthrow a dictator, but then put up their own to try and manage a failed transition to democracy. Similar case in Turkey, although Kenan Evren ruled more like Pinochet and carried out waves of massacres and imprisonments.

I instantly block every single account trying to blame America's problems on Putin. The irony is that actual Putin supporters blame every single one of their problems on "the West".

I have a pretty fatalistic view of this. The point of having a weapon now is to make it expensive and difficult for the enemy to take your life. Even if you succeed in taking down the SS officers, you will be arrested and/or executed.

I think it is very telling that this terror campaign is working. The people who were the loudest about fighting back are now prioritizing survival more than anything.
During Stalin's Red Terror, guns were plentiful, but the NKVD was just so powerful, even against Caucasian ethnicities.
