Ik you don’t want a stranger’s justification, but 1) your post read as a universal indictment of defaulting to “partner” to me, & 2) not being able to have a dialogue about this w/out being shamed is probably why some don’t feel comfortable asking. Anyone who knows your preference should ofc default to it. But I think it’s harsh to *always* categorize “partner” as a micro aggression when it’s often adopted by folks who are precisely trying to avoid that. Some just avoid gender normative language when possible, which I don’t think is harmful?

WARFARE is a true ensemble, with strong performances across the board. Some audiences may crave thicker plot or character work, but a more traditional script would feel like set dressing that misses the point.

I haven’t exhaled deeper after a movie ended in a while. Unrelenting from the start.

Anyone craving the thematic complexity in Garland’s earlier work may be disappointed, but as a technical achievement, this is undeniable. For its simplicity Warfare is never any less profound. Its messaging may be uncomplicated, but that’s part of why Mendoza’s story is so worth telling. #filmsky
