I don't think it was pain that made him so great, I think painting brought him whatever happiness he had.

Honor his memory by doing something strange, unraveling a riddle within yourself, and working on your favorite projects.

“I believe life is a continuum, and that no one really dies, they just drop their physical body and we'll all meet again, like the song says. It's sad but it's not devastating if you think like that... It's a continuum, and we're all going to be fine at the end of the story.” — David Lynch

O this book…

“the river/who had forgotten what it was like to be looked at stepped towards the boy./the boy the river.”

And Odubanjo — such a loss. Adam is a minor masterpiece; & he was only just getting going...

What are you reading in these post-Xmas days (which can be such good reading days)?

grows tender,
grows tender and sweet

Always very lucky to publish a few things in a year. I think I was most proud of this one, which appeared in the last issue of much-missed bath magg. 🍎

I’m reading Mary Lavin’s short stories at the moment and boy are they good! I’m ashamed to say I haven’t read them for years but I’m making up for it now.
If you like Claire Keegan’s work, you’ll love them! Clever and beautiful and honest and real and each so original. Astounding.
