CEO Vicky Edmonds:
“This is huge progress for all drivers, especially those with disabilities. For the first time, we have the Government’s assurance that accessibility won’t be left to chance. These enabling powers will also incentivise greater action by industry to roll out accessible charging.
November 14, 2025 at 6:31 PM
The amendment coincides with the new Government report recommending updates to PAS 1899, which sets clear accessibility standards for public chargepoints.

With 1.35 million drivers with disabilities on UK roads, ensuring accessible public charging is vital for an inclusive EV transition.

No one is questioning the need to think about how EVs will pay for use of the roads - and most drivers are up for that discussion. But it needs to be properly consulted on, designed and introduced at the right time.
November 7, 2025 at 5:31 PM
"These challenges to switching to electric must be addressed urgently, and before any scheme that suggests additional costs is considered.”

Government focus should be on making the transition to electric more affordable and accessible for everyone - not harder.

"Our survey data shows that at least half of drivers are still finding the upfront purchase costs of these vehicles too high, and that half of EV drivers without driveways are finding their vehicles more expensive to run than their former petrol and diesel cars.

"Stronger action to support those still struggling with the purchase prices of EVs, particularly on the used EV market, and bolder moves to support those without access to home charging should lead to EVs becoming the car of choice for many households."

CEO Victoria Edmonds commented:

"Continuing growth in EV sales shows that drivers are increasingly choosing electric - recognising that these cars can be cheaper and better than their petrol and diesel equivalents.

For the first time, our survey also included hybrid, petrol and diesel drivers, providing a fuller picture of how people are experiencing the switch to electric.

‘Charging Divide’ holding back fair transition to EVs | EVA England
Our latest survey reveals a growing charging divide between drivers with and without home chargers, risking an unfair transition to EVs.

"If this transition is to be truly fair, affordable and accessible, it must work for every driver, wherever they live and whatever their circumstances. The driver’s voice needs to be at the centre of how we build the electric future.”
October 31, 2025 at 4:04 PM
EVA England CEO, Victoria Edmonds:

“Those who can charge at home are saving money and driving the change, while those who can’t are facing higher costs and fewer options. The ‘charging divide’ is now one of the biggest barriers to a fair transition.

EVA England CEO Vicky Edmonds:
"Cutting red tape so renters and those without driveways can charge at home is exactly the kind of common-sense reform drivers have been crying out for. It’s a big step towards fairer, cheaper and more accessible charging for everyone.”
