👑 The Planning & Infrastructure Bill receives Royal Assent!

CEO Vicky Edmonds says it's "a major step forward for EV drivers."

While the EU has taken steps to water down plans to end the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2035, we keep seeing continued and unhelpful debate in the press about the future of the UK's ZEV targets.

It’s been a busy week in Westminster for EVA England, as we continue to share and champion EV drivers’ views.

On Tuesday, we met with officials at the Department for Transport to feed back early thoughts from our members on the Autumn Budget, including the new electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED).

🚗⚡ November’s #EV sales figures are in, and the picture is increasingly clear: the shift to electric is well underway.

@newautomotive.org reports that EVs made up more than a quarter of new car sales last month - a strong sign that the electric market is continuing to mature.

⚡ The Electric Car Grant has expanded again, with BMW and Renault models joining the list of EVs eligible for the full £3,750 discount.

Backed by £1.5bn of fresh funding announced in the Autumn Budget, this is another nudge to help drivers cut upfront costs and boost the EV transition.

Our EV Constituency Dashboard - a detailed snapshot of how local communities are progressing in the #EV transition - is live.

This tool, developed for us by Field Dynamics with data from @zapmap.com, highlights areas where charging rollout is keeping pace with EV demand and where support is needed.

Today’s #Budget delivered some welcome steps forward for the UK’s #EV transition.
But it also raised serious concerns about the road ahead.

EVA England CEO, Victoria Edmonds:
"This is completely the wrong time to be taxing EV drivers when they still make up only 5% of vehicles on UK roads.

Huge news for accessible #EV charging! ⚡️

We welcome the Government’s new amendment to the Planning & Infrastructure Bill, providing clear powers to ensure accessibility isn’t left to chance, and giving industry and local authorities greater certainty when planning and delivering public charging.

⚡ What’s driving up #EV public charging costs?

To find out, join us on Friday for our Members' Town Hall, with guest speaker Vicky Read, CEO of ChargeUK.

Vicky will unpack findings from their cost of charging report, and we'll share insights from our survey report and discussions on road pricing.

You may have seen that the Treasury is considering a pay-per-mile charge for #EV drivers, to be introduced in 2028.

As the association representing EV drivers, we wrote an open letter to the Chancellor urging her to consider the impact on driver costs, choice and sentiment.

Reports suggest that the Government may be considering a pay-per-mile tax for #EVs in the upcoming budget.

From as early as 2028, EV drivers could face a new charge of 3p a mile, on top of other road taxes

🚗⚡October stats show that #EVs remain the clear growth story as their market share reached 26% of all new cars sold - the highest so far this year.
November 5, 2025 at 10:15 AM
⚡ Our latest survey report shows that while most #EV drivers love their cars, those without driveways are being left behind.

Nearly 9 in 10 drivers with driveways say their EV is much cheaper to run than petrol or diesel, but only half of drivers without driveways agree.
October 31, 2025 at 4:04 PM
⚡ The Government plans to make home charging easier and cheaper, mandating #EV chargepoints in covered car parks and consulting on removing planning permission for cross-pavement gullies.

This could mean charging from just 2p per mile and saving up to £250 in fees.
October 29, 2025 at 4:04 PM
⚡ Accessible charging for all drivers must be a priority.

Millions of disabled drivers risk being locked out of the #EV transition because public chargers are still not accessible, and Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson and Lord Borwick are calling for change.

Government pledges to act on the #EV ‘charging divide’ ⚡

After a successful campaign led by Baroness Pidgeon, supported by EVA England and its partners, the Government committed yesterday to new action to support drivers without private driveways.
