With fuel duty revenues expected to decline, the Government announced at the last Budget that it is exploring options to introduce pay-per-mile charges for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, often referred to as eVED. At the same time, a major review of public charging is underway.

🚗⚡January's EV registration figures are out, underlining steady growth in #EV adoption and the need to make switching accessible and affordable for more drivers.

Our workshop series continues tomorrow, focusing on one of the biggest opportunities in the #EV transition, the used market.

While 80-90% of drivers buy used cars, less than 25% of EV drivers do as cost, questions around battery health, vehicle range, warranties and resale value affect confidence.

📅 Second-hand EVs | Friday, 6th February
Most drivers buy used cars, but far fewer buy used EVs. We will be joined by Marc Palmer (Autotrader) and Thomas McLennan (BVRLA) to understand what is holding people back and what needs to change to make the second-hand EV market work for everyday drivers.
February 5, 2026 at 12:16 PM
Join us tomorrow lunchtime for our next member workshop in the series, this time focusing on lower cost EVs.

Two-thirds of drivers responding to our survey believe upfront cost still presents the biggest barrier to owning an EV, and access to affordable EVs remains a challenge for many.
📅 Lower cost EVs | Thursday, 5th February
We will be joined by Eloise Sacares and Jon Stenning to unpack new research carried out by Cambridge Econometrics on behalf of T&E and EVA England, exploring how access to EVs for lower and middle-income families could be improved.

We are back this week with not one, but two EVA England member workshops 🚗⚡

Both will dig into one of the biggest questions we hear from drivers: how do we make EVs genuinely affordable? And both will help shape EVA England’s campaigning work.

CEO Vicky Edmonds, is "in the driving seat", alongside Melanie Shufflebotham from @zapmap.com, in the latest episode of Erin Baker's podcast.

They discuss the different ways they support EV drivers - and those considering the switch to electric - and what led them into careers in the EV space.

Millions of drivers risk missing out on affordable home charging, as new evidence shows those without driveways are being locked out from cross-pavement solutions by cost, confusion and council delays.

In our latest survey, drivers are urging government to act on this ‘charging divide’.

Quick reminder that our member-only workshop on consumer experience at public chargepoints is taking place tomorrow at 12pm, with Harriet Devonald (Zapmap) and Sara Sloman (Paythru).

Full details below 👇
We are back on Friday for the second workshop of our series. 🚗 ⚡

This time we're focusing on the consumer experience at public chargepoints as for many EV drivers, this experience remains inconsistent and, at times, frustrating.

⚡ This week we launched #ElectrifyLondon, a call for all London candidates this May to raise their ambition on cleaning up our roads.

Road transport is one of London’s biggest climate and air quality challenges: 28% of CO₂ emissions and 42% of NOx, with serious impacts on health and net zero goals.

A quick reminder that our member-only workshop on EV misinformation is taking place tomorrow at 12pm, with Tanya Sinclair (Electric Vehicles UK) and @colin-walker.bsky.social (@eciu.net)

More details below 👇
Confidence in #EVs is growing, with more drivers making the switch each year.
But misinformation is holding people back, shaping public opinion in ways that don’t reflect real-world experience.

That’s why we’re launching our new member workshop series with a session on tackling EV misinformation.

On Times Radio with Alexis Conran, CEO Vicky Edmonds highlighted that "EV drivers worry less about the availability of charging and more about the price of public charging".

More chargers matter, but when charging on the go can cost up to 10x more than at home, price becomes the biggest barrier.
January 14, 2026 at 6:04 PM
Our cross-pavement charging survey is closing soon, and early findings show a gap between what drivers want and what’s available.

Most drivers without driveways say cross-pavement charging would work for them but many report it isn’t permitted or available in their council even when demand is high.

🚗 #EV drivers without driveways, we need you! 🫵

Last week, the Planning and Infrastructure Bill became law, including new Government commitments on cross-pavement charging, following sustained engagement from EVA England and our partners at New AutoMotive, REA and Kerbo Charge.

👑 The Planning & Infrastructure Bill receives Royal Assent!

CEO Vicky Edmonds says it's "a major step forward for EV drivers."

"By accelerating chargepoint rollout and embedding accessibility through PAS 1899, it ensures future charging points are reliable and safe for drivers with disabilities.

While the EU has taken steps to water down plans to end the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2035, we keep seeing continued and unhelpful debate in the press about the future of the UK's ZEV targets.

🎙️The EV Musings Roundtable Episode is now live!

Our CEO, Vicky Edmonds, joins Vicky Read (ChargeUK) and Tanya Sinclair (EV UK) to discuss how we can improve the driver experience: tackling misinformation and public charging costs, shifting consumer perceptions and much more (including the Budget!)

It’s been a busy week in Westminster for EVA England, as we continue to share and champion EV drivers’ views.

On Tuesday, we met with officials at the Department for Transport to feed back early thoughts from our members on the Autumn Budget, including the new electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED).
