And this is why i believe AI won't ever work the way it is now. It's not connected to (the experience of) reality, only to representations of (the experience of) reality.

One might think this adds substance to the world, since one knows more about it, not less, but the opposite is true: it empties the world; it becomes thinner. That’s because knowledge of the world and the experience of the world are two fundamentally different things. While knowledge has no particular time or place and can be transmitted, experience is tied to a specific time and place and can never be repeated. For the same reason, it also can’t be predicted. Exactly those two dimensions—the unrepeatable and the unpredictable—are what technology abolishes.

Had on of these bad boys called a concha: it's a sweet bread with crunchy sugary bits. 10/10 no notes.
Three conchas on a plate. Conchas are Mexican sweetened bread rolls with a crunchy topping. The pattern on top resembles the grooves of a seashell, hence the name.

Art I would buy if I was rich...
Bernard Vié. Chat descendant l’escalier, 2009
A bronze statue of a cat walking down the stairs. The stairs are sculpted by being attached to the cats paws, without any other support which gives the impression of the stairs floating in the air. The shape of the cat is fairly realistic, the bronze is of a dark color, and has a rough, non-reflective finish.

It's funny though that while they acknowledge the change in her facial features between original and over-painted version, they don't mention the very clear 'boob job' because...sensibilities I guess. It's very obvious though. Restored version on the left:

The female figure has different facial features; her eyes are larger and softer, her lips are upturned in a brief smile, her chin is less pronounced. There is also a very noticeable difference made to her bosom, which appears far too round, a mismatch with the rest of her shirt. Her arms look more delicate too, although this is less obvious.

This goes right to the bones of it, and yes I do think it operates like religion. While their actions now are focused on short-term profit, the people at the top are very focused on survival, legacy and - in some cases - immortality. They want to use all our money to create their personal futures

I’m thinking in broad ecosystem terms.

I watched Primer (2004) two nights ago and as far as time-loop stories go this one is on par with Dark in terms of sheer mindfuckery.
Recommended only if you enjoy puzzle box movies because exactly nothing gets explained

With its extreme hunger, the body claims its survival. Among the exploited and overworked, the compulsion to sleep and stare off into space can feel similarly uncontrollable. And yet, it is also a blessing, a ravenous hungering for more life.

I remember seeing it for the first time and getting that butterfly-in-the-stomach feeling when you fall in love. This picture does not do it justice at all: the colors are absolutely out of this world when you see it in person.

so I did watch Perfect Days the other day and it's a gorgeous film. from a narrative perspective not much happens, and yet the attention to the details of everyday actions made it instantly fascinating and heartfelt to me. strangely soothing even
