Airpower enjoyer.
Also pretty wild that "people don't like what I say" has been auto-translated to "STFU."

That's life, people inevitably are gonna dislike what you say...

A classic of the genre.

She won't do a press conference where she lays out in excruciating detail that she cares about the exact same issues in the same priority order as any given niche of extremely online people who do not live in Delaware and many of whom do not vote, and by Bluesky standards, that means she's JD Vance.
November 12, 2025 at 3:47 AM
I think that's true... for people on bluesky. I don't think the real world Dem base struggles to understand "civil servants are good actually." If I were a dem staffer in any office, I wouldn't prioritize trying to convince furious, anonymous people online who may not even be Americans.

We can still make 47 a bigger number than 53, if Chuck Schumer has the courage!

Good lord. "Russ Vought is bad because of what he wants to do so I'm going to ask you to do it yourself in order to stop Russ Vought" is reaching truly legendary levels of nonsense.

There's a lot of hopium about "well we'll make the party what WE want" or "fine we'll start our OWN party" and even though this comes from allegedly serious people, the tone is not "I've thought this through and have a plan" it's "MOM YOU'LL REGRET IT WHEN I RUN AWAY YOU'LL SEE"

I think of it as shorthand for "this is something I care enough about to willingly spend my own time and money on over and over again."

I really wish people would look at the tweets to action ratio of dementia man instead of consistent panic and treating anything he squirts out at 3 AM as the inevitable iron will of the Right and what they are Definitely Doing.

"Why did Democrats ruin Star Wars" is the dumbest incarnation of horseshoe theory and we deserve it

Reminiscent of the "leftist discovers taxes might be good way to redistribute wealth" discourse a few weeks back.

And so much more emotionally unregulated! "I'm mad as hell" is not policy, and won't mean anything to normies who are not aware there is a website called "Blue Sky" let alone what transpires on it. These same people will be shook that their righteous anger yielded no political results (again).
November 11, 2025 at 6:10 PM
If it's any consolation, this site is like, maybe, at most optimistic, 3% of the total electorate.

Also a bunch of the people complaining the loudest don't vote anyway, which is part of why we're in this position.

Right. It's the same problem with the "Democracy's at threat" argument. It's both true and normie voters just did not give a fuck about it, either because they couldn't see it, didn't believe it, or were concerned about other stuff. This dude did Jan 6 and a plurality of voters said "eh, fine."

The shutdown had no direct method to restore funding, only hopes that indirect pressure might work, and was always a gamble, and always had other consequences. You're right to be pissed, and it's a travesty that we're going to let 51k Americans potentially die because the GOP hates Obamacare.
November 11, 2025 at 3:35 AM
But those 51k people are not at risk because the Dems stopped supporting a shutdown. They're at risk because, even with defections, the Senate passed a bill that said "we're getting rid of those" in July.

4. A bunch of us are feds missing paychecks who at this point are starting to deal with Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs at a more immediate level than "thoughts on political maneuvering and poll numbers." You seemed to totally miss that context.
November 11, 2025 at 3:27 AM
2. That's the aforementioned poor strategy. The one we're complaining about in this thread. The one Mike posted about at the outset of this.
3. Dems didn't kill the subsidies, the Republican majority did. The shutdown is not a magical button that can reverse that
November 11, 2025 at 3:27 AM
Nobody knows what answers you want. You barged into this thread, said "Schumer doesn't care about you," a statement nobody here was disputing, and then said you thought the shutdown would lead to ACA subsidies renewal, ignoring that:
1. That was a gamble at best
