Europe versus Cars

An anti-car (and pro-people) account focused on Europe. Might occasionally indulge in US-bashing.
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

Who doesn't tweet shipwreck AI slop ironically when your company loses 20% in a week?

The infinite money glitch machine, is it sputtering?

It is shocking to see a pro-trade columnist advocating (with reason) for the balkanization of the internet for fear of weaponization. And yet here we are.

Katie, any insight on the role of passive investment and ETF adoption on the eerie stability and lack of fundamentals in these trying times?

Sorry Katie, I can't hear you over the loud sound of the music. Why aren't you dancing?

I was born and raised in a medium size city divided in two by a highway. One side was rich and the other was poor. And to each side, the other was invisible. It would have been unfathomable to my 12yo to imagine having a friend from the other side.

But where are you getting your "you just don't understand Bitcoin" mansplaining these days?
September 22, 2025 at 6:58 AM
Katie, are there studies about how the rise of ETFs and passive investment is affecting fundamentals? Once a company goes to S&P500, who decides to sell the ETF when its fundamentals are poor? Doesn't this create nefarious inertia to markets?

We have had electric self-driving vehicles in Europe for decades, I take one to work every day. America is building a poor solution to a problem of their own making.

Every morning I take an electric self-driving vehicle to work, we've had them for almost two decades in Paris by now.

I am really tempted to buy a Gaya, do you have any opinions about it?

We can accuse trump of many things, but he did not lie about this in the campaign trail. He promised fascism, and boy is he delivering it.

The whole EU bond market seems to be converging. Maybe investors already internalized the idea that the EU is a lender of last resort and these economies are therefore on a similar level of risk?

Learning the costly lesson of never betting on the stability of the US or its market. The order of business now is divest, divest, divest, and trump is yelling it.

It will be an ungodly amount of money to achieve it without gaining much in return. People use transit more if the service is better, and this money could achieve it, but making the service free won't change ridership much. If it's a social program you are aiming for, there are better ways.
