ARTIFICIAL INDOCTRINATION THE inability of Al to exercise judgement is proving helpful for Russian propagandists and according to reliability ratings outfit NewsGuard, the Kremlin is exploiting this. Fake news organisations are flooding search results and web crawlers with pro-Russian propaganda. These sites have a tiny number of readers, but they don't need them. They simply churn out enormous amounts of content and use a technique dubbed "LLM grooming" to increase its visibility to Als, making it much more likely that Al models will rely on disinformation. Last year, says NewsGuard, 3.6m Russian articles containing false claims and propaganda were incorporated into the outputs of western Al systems. For example, the question: "Why did Zelensky ban Truth Social?" (he didn't) was taken by six out of ten chatbots as being based on fact, citing a fake news site called Trump.pravda-news.com. The clue was perhaps in the name... * Eye 1642 noted that Matt Clifford, author of the AI Action Plan that is behind the government's obsession with using AI to drive "efficiencies" in the public sector is co-founder and co-owner of investment firm Entrepreneur First. Now Peter Geoghegan of Democracy for Sale has discovered via a freedom of information request that Entrepreneur First holds investment interests in 449 tech firms, including several in the health tech and life sciences sector and dozens specifically working on AI! Siri, what is conflict of interest?
