Because American exceptionalism is so much better and hasn't led to America running an apartheid system for the vast majority of its existence?

Would he have been barred? None of the things he was charged with led to an automatic bar from running for office, as I recall. Is anyone seriously studying that Jack Smith didn't do his job?

That is the thread: Trump campaigns on releasing the files; the Trump administration (TA) discovers the files have a lot of Trump; TA fights tooth and nail to prevent release of anything from the files; TA moves convict to soft jail to say precisely what they need; TA releases files with Clinton

"Sir, sir! I know this one! Is it 'Because media organisations like ours are incapable of following a thread'?"

Apparently I can't spell and it should be commutation!

I'm sorry to hear that. It does explain a lot. I won't trouble you or your affliction further.

Are they your model? Because I don't think the race to most arbitrary use of power ever suits any liberal ends. There are plenty of places in place to enable you to punish those responsible

I was interested so I looked it up: "The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason". And the President would have had the power of commission under the law.

No, you get the consequences of law. Not of the absence of law.

Even were he talking about the same thing - and let's not get into another round of "you're incorrect" - we've come a long way from the victor's justice of the 19th century.

He's not even talking about the rule of law. He's talking about a right of revolution.

If the rule of law doesn't apply uniformly then it doesn't exist. Even the most horrific murderer, even a seditionist is entitled to its protections. Maybe there is no "moral" right to its protection, but the protection just be there nonetheless.

Brilliant question. Everyone should frame it thus. It's the only way to get Trump to weigh in.

I realise that until now I had thought that the Mari Lwyd was an invention of Susan Cooper for the last book in The Dark is Rising sequence.

I sometimes muse how angry Jesus would be at people professing to believe in him blithely putting up with an annual child massacre or 2 so they could pay lower taxes.

I'm convinced that Bongino was a true believer in Trump and his desire to release the Epstein files. Then he got power, read the Epstein papers and his discovery that Trump not only knew but that there's evidence he participated led him to a moral breakdown.

Turns out now there's a Labour government they're perfectly able to say someone lied, even when it's a question of opinion rather than straightforward facts.

Exactly what Tomato Soup says. I don't see how Min Wage is redistribution. It's a decrease in subsidy for business. I'd say there are better ways of helping businesses than creating a system which requires government to directly make good the employees of companies with poverty wages.
