it’s becoming increasingly clear the goal of the far right is to defund and buy up every source of reliable information until there is no more objective reality to counter them

I ended that piece with a warning: "What we are witnessing, once again, is the alignment of white power against racial justice and redress. As history has shown, maintaining racial inequality requires constant repression and is therefore antithetical to democracy..."

The White House called the revocation of Executive Order 11246 “the most important federal civil rights measure in decades." I wrote about this tactic of co-opting the language of racial equality to cement racial INequality in my NYT Mag cover story last year called "The Colorblindness Trap."

Trump is seeking to destroy anything that can hold him accountable. It's a necessary first step in totalitarian control. Another malicious attack on the US Govt from inside the house.

These emails, sent across agencies, compel all federal employees to snitch on any colleague whose work might have some vague DEIA inflection. Those who refuse to snitch will be disciplined.

Seems designed to put all workers who aren’t white men under a cloud of suspicion. Truly vile stuff.
The acting director of the Office of Personnel Management (the feds' H.R. department) is telling federal employees to rat out their DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility) colleagues by emailing "DEIAtruth@opm.gov."

We should be clear that the language in the anti “DEI” executive order and the subsequent letter sent to federal employees to turn in colleagues who try to “disguise” DEI under other names means hires and promotions of Black and other POC will be deemed suspicious. www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

“Do not obey in advance. Most of the power of authoritarianism is freely given. In times like these, individuals think ahead about what a more repressive government will want, and then offer themselves without being asked. A citizen who adapts in this way is teaching power what it can do.” T.Snyder.

Well, we had a decent run. Pendleton pendulum has swung all the way back...
On January 16, 1883, Congress enacted the Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act, establishing merit-based hiring for federal jobs, reducing patronage and corruption. Key figures included President Chester A. Arthur.

How does Musk benefit from the fascist swings in Europe? He's not so financially rewarded as he is with US Govt. contracts. He gains notoriety and influence but what's the endgame? 🤔
Elon Musk’s plan
The far-right Freedom Party of Austria, founded by former Nazis in the 1950s, gained a realistic chance this weekend of leading the country’s next government, after talks between three mainstream parties collapsed.

Trent had a bad day. Robbo played well and generally bossed his side of the pitch. They were left exposed when Konates legs started to go but we need to keep things in perspective. Connor Bradley is a keeper. Let's not panic.
Was working for the game today so only seen highlights. From what I seen, if Trent and Robbo continue like this and they won’t bring in a new full back during January.. I’ll be starting Gomez (when he’s fit) on the left and Bradley #LFC

Over in the other place, the billionaire owner is threatening to fund ‘moderate’ (rightwing) candidates in heavily Democratic districts too.

This is what oligarchy looks like. It’s the biggest threat to democracy today. Not ‘cancel culture.’ Not trans kids. Not college protesters.

Oligarchy.

Essential to be clear on Mitchs actions promoting and protecting Trump. He placed the key judges (SCOTUS/ Cannon) in position and he refused to convict Trump after J6. He deserves no credit for trying to contain the danger he fed.
"No one has helped Trump's rise more than Mitch McConnell."

Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell has received praise in the media this week for being a part of a new anti-Trump GOP resistance. Ayman Mohyeldin says this is patently absurd.
