I feel very vindicated by this post.
The longer we don't have a suspect in custody the worse the conspiracies are going to become; soon you won't be able to convince anyone that whoever they arrest is the right guy.

What I find most hilarious about this isn't the fact that she was shocked by another culture's cuisine. It's that it's specifically turtle and bullfrogs.

In no way am I diminishing the severity of the crime committed, or suggesting leniency. But, doesn't the death penalty for a suspect who turned himself in kind of bring about the wrong message?

Even if I agree with him premises in retrospect… I really didn’t need to learn that my own favorite (Catholic) philosopher condemned the idea that the “intellectual soul” starts at conception.

I haven’t heard even a single genuine proposal that would have addressed the issue:
“We should use the death penalty”, “we should punish the judge!”, “we should avoid cashless bail!”
Not a single one of those policies would have prevented the tragedy.
