“To be accused of speaking too loudly about one injustice but not others by someone who does not care about any of them is to be told - simply - to keep quiet.”

Today a volunteer team in Ohio with @defendpublichealth.bsky.social delivered a stack of letters from constituents to Jon Husted’s office in Columbus about how his votes - especially for the big bad bill - harm our health.

I subscribed somewhat on a whim recently and it’s really been worth it.

From Health Policy Institute of Ohio: "The decline in medical debt coincides with a drop in Ohio’s uninsured rate, which has been halved following the passage of the Affordable Care Act in 2010 and Ohio’s decision to expand Medicaid eligibility beginning in 2014." (i.e. by policies now under threat)

One might think that a strategy to make America's children healthy and increase military readiness would support vaccines to prevent illness and pay for them for children and the military.

Looking at the 2025 American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations, you can't get even close to this number until age 18, and then only if you add in annual Covid and Flu vaccines every single year from 0-18.

Both Walgreens & CVS were scheduling for 9/4 or after in Cincinnati when I looked this evening. (I do wonder if they are booking a week out because visits are in fact “popular” in my area or because they are estimating that is when they will receive a shipment to have vaccine in stock.)

Secretary Kennedy seemed to imply that off-label access is an option in his announcement about the FDA approval, saying: “These vaccines are available for all patients who choose them after consulting with their doctors.”
August 28, 2025 at 1:48 PM
First off, conversations about off-label Covid-19 vaccination are not new. Many people may not know or remember that Covid vaccines were fully FDA approved incredibly quickly for adults. But it took more than a year for young kids to have any access at all, even under emergency use authorization.

My review is that this book was excellent (and also somewhat stressful to read all their careful research about the way these systems work and what companies aim to do with them).

The @ameracadpeds.bsky.social 2025 Vaccine Schedule COVID-19 recs:

- Routine vaccination for all infants 6-23 months
- Kids 2 years & up with complications OR "whose parent or guardian desires their protection from COVID-19 should be offered a single dose of age-appropriate COVID-19 vaccine."
