I used to love reading Tom Shales. His scorching reviews were high art, esp. the ones of Kathy Lee Gifford's Christmas specials. They finally stopped letting him see the specials ahead of time.

I live in Minneapolis. After the Annunciation shooting, a kid was asked "have you been through shooting drills?" his response "yeah, in school but not in church" That really struck me.
