In May, I moved back into a condo I left in 2018. Last week I figured out that my upstairs neighbor is the same guy who lived there when I left.

I keep reading articles meant to reassure us, saying that authoritarianism takes a while to overtake a country, the US has a strong federal system and there are protections in place. I don't find this reassuring at all.
