Sucks for the dm in the moment, but it can be such a great learning opportunity. You’ll never make the same mistake again, or even better, sometimes you’ll design a portion of a larger scale encounter (cleaning out a dungeon for example) to be solved in that way again, playing to the PCs strengths

The crit success on skill checks is also kinda strange I think. But I would probably utilize it if the group of people I was playing with were chill and wouldn’t try to abuse it (I.E everyone dog piling checks to try and guarantee success when they wouldn’t have knowledge of them failing)

The idea that a level 20 fighter will actually miss more often than a level 1 fighter (due to facing higher AC monsters and rolling mor Nat 1’s) boggles my mind.

Did that become a thing in the 2024 edition? If it did Im ignoring that entirely. At a certain point PCs should always succeed at checks of lower levels. I homebrew the same thing with attacks. At level 11, a nat 1 will still do half damage if the attack would still hit with modifiers.

Blackjack Treylyn. A zealot barbarian, whose strength came from a Devil whom he allowed to inhabit his body. The devil wanted to escape hell, and Blackjack was going to die alone in the woods as a child, after his family were slain.

I watched you play a bit of it, it looks incredible! I’m for sure adding it to my list of games to stream (BG3 is going to take me a good while though, I’ll have to find a way to speed up my play through).
