I'm probably (definitely) over thinking this, but I wonder if the reason Mountcastle was tendered was to control where he goes if the decide to move on. Send him to a NL team or something instead of him ending up in Boston, which seems like an obvious fit for both team and player.

The more I think about this, if Grayson really is healthy and ready to rebound teams would be tripping over themselves to beat a Taylor Ward offer for a 26yo with his upside.

They just played a clip on MLBN of Grayson talking about his rehab and he didn't make it sound like they have identified why he keeps getting injured. The debridement was a "hope this helps" move. They didn't do it until late in the year, if it was a sure fix, why wait?

The medicals on Grayson must be pretty bad. Also don't have to worry about seeing him carve in the playoffs when you trade him to the Angels.

Probably a bit of hyperbole, but one of the more important hires the Orioles need to make this winter is the replay room. The Orioles have consistently been in last place in overturn% over the past few years.
