Trump-appointed cronies and their supporters just decided that the real problem in the military right now is… secularism?

As a Ukrainian-Jewish American atheist, I can celebrate Hanukkah and Christmas without belief, but not without meaning. Proudly cherry-picking the best parts of every world 🤭

My electric company sent me “12 ways to lower your energy bill.” I checked for “stop building fucking data centers”. Unfortunately not on the list.
Sure. I’ll go make my house slightly more miserable 🤷🏼‍♀️

Stopped by the Maplewood mall yesterday and it looked even more like a zombie-movie set than before. Several big stores are gone, but in their place popped up endless little shops with fake Labubas and Pokémon. Labuba is what’s holding the US economy together 🙃

Iran basically discovered a subscription model: grab a woman, stage outrage, get Western donations. Yes, I’m glad she survived, but white savior charity doesn’t challenge the machine that keeps producing victims 🤷‍♀️

Another thought, regarding My Friends: authors once exoticized the Other from a far land (see Edward Said), and now some of them romanticize poverty instead. Reading Backman, I keep thinking he’s never seen real hardship up close. #booksky
Started Backman’s My Friends. Same emotional rollercoaster as always, but this time he erased every hint of place or time in an attempt to make the story universal. The result feels more like emotional IKEA furniture - functional, familiar, and very flat. Still good for bedtime reading

I have a serious question: MAGA folks swore they’d boycott Costco after it filed a lawsuit over Trump’s tariffs. And yet the parking lot is packed as hell. How do we gently remind maggots to honor their sacred boycott vows? I just want to park my car 😭😭😭

Turns out if you disable search history and recommendations on YouTube, it quietly kills all AI and human slop like Shorts and stops the platform from deciding what you should watch. A tiny act of digital hygiene that everyone needs

It’s pretty bad when the only person praising your military doctrine is Vladimir Putin.

Let’s impeach this fascist dictator before it’s too late for American democracy!

Americans dug up Tolokonnikova to ask her how not to lose a country. Interesting choice, considering it was Ukrainians, not russians, who kicked out a Kremlin-backed authoritarian president in 2014 after he shot protesters. But sure, ask someone from a country that never stopped its own dictator 🤷🏼‍♀️

My grandma spent her whole life as an atheist and then, once she retired and for reasons known only to herself, suddenly went religious and started warning eight-year-old me about the apocalypses. I imagined something dramatic and cinematic. Nobody told me the world ending could look this boring 🤷🏼‍♀️

My first not-so-successful attempt with the Mamiya C220. I somehow managed to mess up the roll while shooting and scratch it after developing 🤭 probably I need to replace the light seals and spend a bit more time getting to know camera. But honestly, I’m happy as a clam anyway :)

Outside is December gloom, inside is boredom, and I still don’t know what to photograph for the test roll for my new camera. The 120 mm reel is almost done printing though, so inspiration has about ten minutes to appear :)

Meeting a guy tomorrow to pick up another camera. I keep telling myself this will be the last one for a while. Unfortunately, I’m very good at lying to myself. But hey, at least I’m consistent

I think I get why Trump fixates on #Somalis in #Minnesota : their grandparents had the guts to fight real Italian fascists, so our knockoff wannabe Fuhrer sees them as a threat. Authoritarians always hate people who’ve already learned how to stand up to fascists. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Reading Lesya Ukrainka’s essays tonight. There’s something fascinating about arguing in my head with a brilliant woman who lived more than a century before I was even born. Time collapses a little when the mind on the page is sharper than most voices around you

Побачила радість деяких вестернів щодо китайських зарядок для EV з коментарем “головне, що не Маск”. Я остання людина, яка буде Маска виправдовувати, але це прямо «назло мамі відморожу яйця». Невже вибір досі тільки між двома evil?

Only immigrants drag their whole ‘world’ with them - boxes, books, and traumatized plants, because nothing is ever permanent, so you just rebuild your life out of whatever survived the trip

Does anyone know when Patreon became a russian asset?
They’ve started deleting accounts of Ukrainian artists who simply want to support their country and the veterans defending it. Hypocritical pacifism at its finest 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hey Minnesota people, if you were the ones honking at us today while we walked with Ukrainian flags protesting that “peace deal” they’re trying to force on Ukraine, thank you. Every honk felt like a reminder that we’re not alone. You’re awesome 💙💛

As a Ukrainian who survived the Yanukovych era, and a US citizen now, watching American politics feels like rewatching an old season while everyone else thinks it’s a fresh plot twist. The funniest part? Friends once lectured me on “checks and balances”… and now ask how I knew 🤭
