(1/19) November 20 is #transdayofremembrance. #transdayofremembrance was founded by Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honour Rita Hester (who lost her life in 1998). The vigil commemorated all trans folks lost to violence that year and began an annual worldwide observance.

As someone residing in the US, I feel like the Transgender Day of Remembrance will become increasingly more important. Check in on your trans friends. see if they have any unmet basic needs and work to help them get those needs met. (1/2)
