I wonder if the OpenReview dataset gets released, would it help to train LLMs to do better reviews? Also given that we have quality assessments from the follow-up papers for the past conferences.

Why not?

Blinding peer review, grant proposal review, etc. makes a lot of sense as to even the ground field given the difference pace around the globe.

I'm from 🇨🇴 which might rank in top for corruption. We may have improved as we call it clientelism or politics. Science is not immune to politics
In light of the new OpenReview identity-leak scandal, it's a good time to question our assumptions about why blinding in peer review is helpful in the first place.

I'd at least like transparency about the demographics of the reviewer pools at the megaconferences.

Randomly amusing myself while traveling: many people believe a large fraction of the reviewer pools of the big AI/ML conferences are master's students and undergraduates. Fact or fiction?

💯 crucifying @openreview.bsky.social (or even @iclr-conf.bsky.social ) for the incident is exaggerated.

100% Reliability doesn't exist! Ask Boeing engineers

Btw, I understand the anger & fear. Now, pls disclose other similar stands of yours, eg measures & actions after Boeing ✈️ incidents.
I think they try their best, but it’s not a trivial business… I can actually understand arguments for both sides, but OR integration has so signifincantly progressed, I don’t think there will be a going back … would still like OR to fix some more issues thought… 🫠

I won't look up the names of the reviewers. But I would look up the names of the people who looked up the names of the reviewers.

Yesterday, I did 2 AI conferences in Paris; different kind of vibes.
AdoptAI, a business show: pretty videos, promises about AI, 2.30€ coffee
NeurIPS@Paris, a research conference: equations, free coffee

AI business wouldn't exist without research. Let's not forget it and keep investing in research

💯 who will admit that over a certain number "humans just hate humans"?

Met few. Only one genuinely honest to tell me:
"I'm a pain in the ass. Call me racist, I don't trust immigrants. Call it a bad business, but I overpaid the piece of land next to mine as I wanted control"
People don’t hate datacenters being built near them, they hate *anything* being built near them. The median position is never build anything
