I didn't know it at the time but our local hospital had a high rate of baby deaths because of poor practice. Was featured on TV because of that.

Indeed. I had complications with my first one and my midwife knew exactly what to do. She also delivered #2 which happened quickly without event.
I never told my parents about the homebirth plan. Both were furious and thought I'd been reckless. But I'd really thought it through
