There’s also the tree along the Ludwig Jahn Sportpark which is where the first Sammlung that led to the 1848 uprising. And the oldest is I think in the Tegeler Wald?

I love the history of Berlin trees which have seen everything come and go. One of the oldest is near the Neue Stastsbibliothek, withstood Speer’s demolitions and bombing and intense combat! I think it dates back to the time of the Great Elector

Part of the idea is to showcase some of the newest research from newer voices in the field, but also to provide a bookend to Kathy Pence and Paul Betts’ 2008 “Socialist Modern”. Two of the contributors, Bri Smith & Tom Smith (no relation) will be at the launch to talk on their research on the GDR.
