This is ultimately one of those things where we can't do the work for people. We can't tell people "this is a good source", and expect them to not also hear the next person who says louder, with more anger, "no! THIS is the good source!" We need to give pathways and frameworks, and be open to hear.

Totally agree with these two parts.

Information is deeply tied to people. it's in everything. people aren't going to just wake up and decide that they can/should poke around a bit. no one is going to decide they're the crank. there's not one solution. But if we don't try, we won't fix it.

Agreed. And it's up us to increase/update info literacy.

and understand how info impacts society
and how info functions inextricably from humanity
and concepts on how to change some things so binary isn't so consistently the default
start here
Information Maybe it's the coolest thing ever. Then again, it's kinda big, isn't it? Kinda gnarly, in the gnarled-haunted-tree kind of way? Convoluted so badly it's hard to tell backwards from forwa...

Dressing for comfort is another game changer. Loose clothes are comfortable, and fit all kinds of forms; it becomes a question of where/if you want horizontal lines and color changes. They just aren't approved by those who want us to look "right".

Making clothes is another option. Not for everyone, but it was literally the only way to get clothes long enough for me that still otherwise fit per expectation.

The positives about sewing is that you can source ethical fabrics and make to last for years. My longest-worn skirt lasted ~15 years, and I wore it constantly. Classic pattern, well constructed, good fabric, ❤️ color. Replaced the zipper twice.

And yes, absolutely opens eyes to how complex it is.
Simply complex
Simplicity is only a way into a problem set. It’s like a broken clock: perfection in a timey context; otherwise, anywhere from a little to…

garbage in, garbage out. how did we lose such an easy to remember maxim?

one of the very first exposures to genAI I had was an idea for an RFP generator, that would use the same generator to write RFP's for submitting parties, which would then be reviewed by the same generator to bubble up the 'winner(s)'...

it is definitely giving Saturn Devouring His Son vibes:

AI moratorium was one of the few things that actually managed to change (removal) from HR1. Even this congress knew it wouldn’t fly — while removing SNAP benefits, gutting ACA, and funding ICE.

honestly -- how do they not, even if AI survives? if they actually meet the hype (I don't think there's any chance the will) and become their own magic bullets to solve ✨everything✨, they solve their way out of needing all this footprint.

I will have to watch it again with that in mind. I latched on to the "pattern replicated in nature here-here-here", per an ongoing fascination. 😂

thank you for introducing me to this. it might be a new favorite. cross-domain systems showing similar progression.

silver lining: he has conceded there is systemic financial stress

wtf: "let's *make* people work longer" (ignoring agism, and clearly having not stepped foot in Walmart or McDonalds for the last 10 years)

real solution: wealth tax
