yeah, that was a definitely one of the points I made with the complex thought I laid out yesterday/today. :)

Think about our total wealth like a cup of water.

A bit more than 2 T of that water goes to the thimble, which is around 13k households/35k people. It overflows.

A bit more than a teaspoon is put in the bucket, which is around 66m households/174m people. It barely registers - blue dot!

The households number isn't in the FRED, but they are on IBIS. 2024 is calculated ~132.2m. Worldometer estimates US population at ~348m, so each household is ~2.6 people. Remember: babies need to survive. We don't know the composition dynamics, but those non-earners (& future) are somewhere.

But let's take them at their word for now: sturdy floor. We'll put the water in a container. The below breaks, percents, and distribution is per the 1Q 2025 FRED.

Align that sense of lost agency to what was explained in the previous four. If someone feels lost, there's an array of options to start making inroads. Info literacy content is public (unless it gets gnarly, and that's free membership), and geared towards introduction and further exploration.

All the mainstream frameworks failing? Explain what's happening with information (AI, DOGE, social media, restructuring education -- as the top contenders) by evoking the magical thinking already appreciated. 😉

More editorial in the alt text (after the important bit of the text of the image).

this is built from something that bubbled up in my brain over the weekend. Because information is just a starting point to understanding, and not all information is beneficial or on point.

The hope-filled bet is that more of humanity wants function and joy. The status quo heightens to more domination and reduced agency.

Hope isn't a palliative, but a reason to reach and do something.

Our information is disintegrating. It's been going on for over a decade, it's getting faster, and it has tendrils into everything and everyone I care about. And yet: it's information. Information has always been how I got myself out of pickles.

How do we fix it? First, understand the context.
November 24, 2025 at 9:03 PM
Totally agree with these two parts.

Information is deeply tied to people. it's in everything. people aren't going to just wake up and decide that they can/should poke around a bit. no one is going to decide they're the crank. there's not one solution. But if we don't try, we won't fix it.

I am in that stage of "everything sucks" that I had to remind myself visually...

...and have dreams of no computers.

it is definitely giving Saturn Devouring His Son vibes:

The conversation should have ended at 'copyright infringement'. But since it hasn't, think about what other process obfuscates where an information trove comes from, and makes it hard to impossible to trace it back while trying to make it look legitimate.

why thank you sleeping brain, yes, genAI does seem to be intellectual work laundering

Thinking about info (as always) and how it affects *everything*. Emotions, thoughts, idea, behavior, action, collaboration, antagonism -- everything. Info supports it all.

Screw it up, everything gets screwy.

it's a riff from my character for my website, with a stronger nod to kilroy. ;) and, yeah, that's pretty much how I've felt since HR1 v1 landed.
November 5, 2025 at 6:44 PM
lol, this is the second time I've been sparked on this today. 😜 This is my understanding of information. I have it all written up, and I'll be dripping it in as I need it to support new writing and/or edit it with the site in mind.

I wish I'd kept a digital library for decades. I wish I'd start. 😞

Just vomited this up in an email:
November 3, 2025 at 12:15 PM
woke this morning convinced I *had* to finally lay down my holistic map of data/information. First draft. Years of formulation, based on how others were using the terms (the world is rife with personal models), as well as checking against how it functioned in use across a broad array of sets.

Since the administration is now moving forward towards spending the trillions of dollars on nuclear armament they allocated in HR1, it's time to remind people that testing doesn't just affect the immediate space around the test.

Part of a piece I'm writing up for humanist IT concepts.

I would also suggesting thinking about them as layers of systems that also talk to each other (ignore the hierarchy, just grabbing something I already have).
