Another excellent entry in Mike's RAN series and a must read for those interested in Naval history and Australian military history.

Sorry for the delayed #HistBookChat - it's been a lovely week of reading, book-selling and book-buying!

I was very pleased to pick up a copy of "Assault Brigade" this week. It's been a while since I've brought any Australian military history, so I'm really looking forward to this.

Hello #HistBookChat gang.

I was very fortunate last week to have a short holiday in Hay on Wye.

As well as being just a really lovely place to visit it is, of course, secondhand book utopia!

The series is much more likely to show an incident on 27 November when 5 NZ Bde was attacked at Menastir by forces from the Bardia fortress, and in which the Bde notes one enemy I tank was lost to a 2-pdr.

Re-reading this at the moment (French Indochina is my thing). It occurs to me (not for the first time) how, despite his undoubted greatness, FDR was quite naive when it came to both his pronouncements on colonialism with all men being born equal and also in his dealings with Stalin.
