But books centered around science for this age group can be a hard sell! I’m still holding out hope for seeing the world of Eureka in print.

I wanted to put this out there because I still believe there is an agent or publisher who can help bring this STEM adventure into the world! 🔬🔭🧪📚

Middle school is often the age where girls stop pursuing a career in science. That’s why I really wanted to make a book more targeted at this age group.

The Astrobees, the cube follow-on experiment to these circular robots, are more robot-like, while the SPHERES, were more satellite-like. Astrobees are designed to be astronaut assistants while the SPHERES weren’t meant to interact much with crew or their environment.

My personal favorite experiments they were a part of was the SPHERES-Slosh experiment which helped researchers better understand the forces that fuel may create in spacecraft and satellite fuel tanks in microgravity.

SPHERES stands for Synchronized Position Hold, Engage, Reorient, Experimental Satellites (because NASA sure loves a long acronym) and helped performed more than 600 experiments aboard the ISS for over a decade.

And if they look familiar, it is because they were inspired by the floating droid that helped Luke Skywalker practice his Jedi skills in Star Wars.
