It's here! We went and wrote a 20-page, full-colour zine about the Italian giallo film. Limited run of 100, available for free this weekend at our Strange Vices and Bloody Blades festival! www.ticketsource.co.uk/star-and-sha...

Greatly enjoying the logo for the Barlinale festival - check out their programme and consider attending if you're in town for that other festival! www.barlinale.com/programme202...

If you're in Berlin & if you can, refrain from attending. You can see any of the films in their roster at a layer time, in a different context. Instead, consider going to one of myriad counter-festivals rooted in solidarity with Palestine: On Strike, Palinale, Falastin Cinema Week and Barlinale.

Just finalized the cover for one of my favorite books I've worked on this year. A haunting (and haunted) image for a powerful book. Will have a video component as well - really want to find more ways to work with practice-based research from scholar-filmmakers! link.springer.com/book/9783031...

I know I'm not the only Springer employee who was horrified at the Theory & Society coup; this is brilliant news, honestly so nice to see a positive outcome
More exciting @openlibhums.bsky.social news folks! We're flipping Theory & Society into Theory & Social Inquiry. As I say in this press release, THE PROFIT MOTIVE HAS NO PLACE IN SCHOLARLY PUBLISHING. #OpenAccess #JointheRevolution

Reading #ACES2024 posts on new CMOS changes and wondering why it's such hot gossip that someone forgot their coat

Had a great time serving coffee and cherry pie all day for our Twin Peaks marathon at Star & Shadow Cinema. Seriously, I think we've never sold so much black coffee. Will have to get an appropriate dress/apron for when we do Season 2.

New Open Access publication! Read Sarah Street's excellent history of the British film studio Pinewood, examining how its infrastructure and labour practices contributed to its postwar resilience link.springer.com/book/10.1007...

Great talk by Dr Johnny Walker on Roberta Findlay and the economics of the horror video market tonight at The Miskatonic Institute of Horror Studies - my first visit and super impressed, really good crowd and general atmosphere!

Finally setting up on here in time for SCMS, my first one in five years! Looking forward to reconnecting with Film and Media folks at the Palgrave table (and not having to worry about writing my conference presentation on the plane)
