Day 7: Santa Monica – 85 miles
Final day. Legs tired, heart full. 💗
My family was at the finish line.
Went for an ocean swim with teammates, cheered more riders in, and soaked it all up. 🌊🎉
So proud to be part of an incredible team and this powerful ride.

Day 6: Ventura – 88 miles
Coastal views + smooth roads = fave day 🌊
Paradise Pit = ice cream + fresh berries 🍓🍦
Early to RS4 before the dance party kicked off —some of my ride buddies still brought the moves 💃
Ended with the final candlelight vigil—centered on the riderless bike. 🕯️ Beautiful.

Day 5: Lompoc – 42 miles
Red Dress Day! ❤️‍🔥
Our team @wespoke showed up in red scrubs with bold messages about healthcare access—because visibility is power.
Shorter mileage and high vibes all around 💃

Day 4: Santa Maria – 89 miles
Rode through the fog and reached the top of Evil Twins—official halfway mark! 📸
Chilly descent down to the coast where the sun finally broke through 🌤️
Cinnamon roll + coffee stop gave me the zip to ride into camp ☕
Wrapped the day with a 15-min massage 😌

Day 3: Paso Robles – 66 miles
Birthday ride! 🎂
Started with the infamous Quad Buster—the longest climb of the ride 💪.
Caught the Drag Show dress rehearsal at Rest Stop 4 💃
Root beer floats in camp 🍦 and birthday dinner out with my mom ❤️
Also… enjoying the hotel A/C instead of camp for tonight 😌

Day 2: King City – 114 miles
Hot, hilly miles and rough roads today.
Grateful for the otter pop stop 🧊 exactly when I needed it.
Fewer photos, but captured a slice of tent village—3,000 riders and roadies sleeping under the stars 🌌.
11K+ steps… in cycling shoes!
Birthday ride tomorrow 🎉

Santa Cruz – 82 miles
Foggy start 🌫️ but the sun broke through by afternoon ☀️.
A long day of riding with lots of climbing.
Rolled into Santa Cruz early, set up my tent 🏕️, and later met up with other women, trans & nonbinary teams at camp 🌈.
Settling into the rhythm of the ride.

Day 0: Orientation Day at Cow Palace 📍
Met up with part of my team, @wespoke, last night for a BBQ and again this morning for a team meeting.
Dropped off our bikes inside the Cow Palace 🚲 and felt the excitement build.
Now to finish packing and try to sleep before the early morning rollout!😴

🚲545 miles (actually more!) over 7 days from SF to LA.
My second AIDS/LifeCycle, and the final year of the ride’s 30+ year history. ❤️
Here’s what the journey looked like:

Eating breakfast by a creek, watching a blue heron fish + a duck family nap at the shore, ducklings tucked in. It’s #BiodiversityDay— this peace is fragile. Protect nature like your life depends on it—because it does. 🌿🦆

The GOP budget plan hands massive tax breaks to the wealthy while gutting healthcare, food aid, and housing for working families. Those making under $50K could lose $8K–$15K in support, while the richest get huge giveaways. It’s a wealth transfer from struggling Americans to the ultra-rich.

Sunday ride complete! 42.79 miles with 3,497 ft of climbing—this one definitely tested the legs after all that skiing last week. Started in Orinda, rolled through Moraga, down to Castro Valley, and back up through Lafayette. Solid day in the saddle!

Got in 4 solid days of XC skiing over February break—45 miles, 2,630 ft ascent at 7-7,500 ft elevation—plus plenty of family time and snow fun! Great base fitness for AIDS/LifeCycle training. Back to regular bike rides tomorrow! 🚴‍♀️❄️ #XCskiing #BearValley #WinterMiles #AIDSLifeCycle #BaseTraining

Happy #NGWSD 🏆💪 Sports shaped my life—from a kid playing everything, to a lightweight DI rower, to a junior rowing coach, to a multi-sport athlete today. Now, my spouse (who I met on the UW rowing team) and I get to share that power and joy with our kids. I stand with trans athletes. #LetThemPlay

Trying to stay informed about the harm this administration’s executive orders are doing without getting trapped in a spiral of negativity. The weight of it all feels overwhelming. I escaped to the mountains for xc skiing to find some peace. Back to real life now, dreaming about being there still 🏔️❄️🎿

Grateful for scientists sharing real-time data here. The Nat'l Warning hit at 10:50, but Alameda alerts lagged until 11:43. On an island avg 30 ft elevation (my parents’ house is 17 ft), their main evac route, the underwater tunnel, wouldn’t have been possible. Real-time info saves lives. #tsunami

Mondays are my day to reset and recharge. I get the family organized with meal planning, laundry, and cleaning, but I also make time for myself. Yesterday, I worked on homemade Christmas gifts while listening to podcasts and squeezed in a spin on my stationary bike.
