🧵 The Supreme Court could revisit same-sex marriage. Some experts say “don’t worry,” but history & current politics suggest we can’t be complacent. Here’s why ⬇️

We knew this administration was coming after LGBTQ+ individuals and families, so we proactively ensured we had all the legal paperwork in place to protect our rights as parents to our children — including having the non-bio parent adopt our kids.

Trump promised “never again” but tore up the Iran nuclear deal and then bombed Iran’s nuclear sites. His actions have made the world less safe and pushed us closer to conflict. Words don’t match the reality he’s created.

Saw @heightenedscrutinydoc.com at @framelinefestival.bsky.social last night. Appalling to see courts making decisions in cases attacking trans children based on media narratives, not facts or science. This film is urgent—watch it, share it, and keep fighting.

Trans youth need to know they’re seen and loved. If you know trans youth, reach out and affirm them. If not, donate to groups like The Trevor Project, amplify trans voices, and advocate for protections. Every action counts.

SCOTUS upholds a ban on gender-affirming care as the CDC backs lenacapavir—an HIV prevention breakthrough priced out of reach. Different issues, same fight: everyone deserves access to life-saving, evidence-based care. Let science lead, not politics.

The CDC approved lenacapavir for HIV prevention—a major milestone. But approval isn’t access. It’s still priced out of reach for many. Join advocates pushing for affordable, equitable care: contact your reps, speak out, demand action.

HIV prevention drug hailed as a 'breakthrough' gets FDA approval
A drug called lenacapavir, administered in two injections a year, offers protection from HIV comparable to daily pills. One looming question: Will it be affordable for lower resource countries?

The Supreme Court’s decision in US v. Skrmetti is devastating. Letting Tennessee’s ban stand endangers trans youth and opens the door to broader attacks on trans rights—sports, bathrooms, even adult care.

This fight is far from over. Stand up, speak out, and protect trans lives.

🚲545 miles (actually more!) over 7 days from SF to LA.
My second AIDS/LifeCycle, and the final year of the ride’s 30+ year history. ❤️
Here’s what the journey looked like:

Eating breakfast by a creek, watching a blue heron fish + a duck family nap at the shore, ducklings tucked in. It’s #BiodiversityDay— this peace is fragile. Protect nature like your life depends on it—because it does. 🌿🦆

Happy Mother’s Day to all who mother.

You know what we really want?
• Paid family leave
• Childcare that doesn’t cost a mortgage
• Reproductive rights without a fight
• Gun laws that keep our kids alive
• Climate action that isn’t too late

Keep your brunch. We’ll take justice.

Sometimes, public service feels like being the only person in the room asking: “Is this fair?” It can be lonely. But every act of integrity adds up. If you’re doing that work—seen or unseen—thank you. Keep going.

You know you’re in the Midwest when breakfast comes with potatoes two ways and lunch follows up with three more. Will dinner make it a perfect spud trifecta?

Just felt a little earthquake and my 5-year-old casually asked, “Did the tectonic plates make that happen?” Like… yes, actually. Anyone else’s kids drop surprisingly accurate science like it’s no big deal?

I collect hobbies—accidentally. Most fall into two camps: outside and moving my body or inside doing something cozy and tedious with my hands. Both give me a break from the swirl of work and parenting. Some are on pause, some are all-in. Here’s where I’m at lately:

Biophilia is our innate love for nature—the pull to be near trees, water, and wild spaces. It boosts our mood, sharpens focus, and supports well-being. Step outside, take a breath, and reconnect. Nature isn’t a luxury; it’s essential.

I didn’t miss Earth Day—I got my hands in the dirt planting seeds and took a peaceful walk outside. These little moments remind me how deeply our environment shapes our health and future. Let’s keep showing up for the planet, however we can.

Food is about to get a lot more expensive with Trump’s sweeping tariffs. If you aren’t already involved in community-supported agriculture, now’s the time to join. It’s a great way to support local farmers and avoid the rising costs from higher import taxes.

The GOP budget plan hands massive tax breaks to the wealthy while gutting healthcare, food aid, and housing for working families. Those making under $50K could lose $8K–$15K in support, while the richest get huge giveaways. It’s a wealth transfer from struggling Americans to the ultra-rich.

The CDC just issued mass layoffs under a Trump executive order, slashing key public health programs. Experts warn of dire consequences, especially for HIV prevention. “We’re going to have patients die,” says one doctor. These cuts will hit rural areas hardest. #PublicHealth #CDC #HIVPrevention
The CDC Has Been Gutted
Thousands of CDC employees who worked on things like preventing HIV and lead poisoning have been told they were subject to a reduction in force. Experts say people will die.

I’ve decided to rejoin my local CSA! Supporting local farmers and investing in a sustainable food system feels more important than ever. It’s a small but powerful way I can ensure fresh, healthy food for my family while supporting my community. Excited to help strengthen the local food network! 🌱
