Oh yeah, I should not have grocery shopped at 2pm having consumed no food today, but my interpretation of the Tucson Frog and Firkin Hen House is spot freaking on and will keep away vampires.

Well it looks like a stick but my dwarf Gala apple finally arrived so we can plant it this weekend.

Merde. Some of my dumplings/wontons burst in the soup.

Sunday night dinner: bucatini with a roasted kabocha squash and sage cream sauce with...bacon.

Is it my best work? No. Will it keep someone from the front porch of the house next door maybe 20 ft away from seeing the face of whomever is using the toilet? Yes. Job done.

I am in coffee consumption shlub for the morning with coffee in hand, but Freya really really loves the fenced yard as evidenced by zoomies.
November 15, 2025 at 3:02 PM
Our lady of sun baked potato just got to enjoy her yard off leash for the first time ever!
November 14, 2025 at 4:24 PM
An upside though is that this weekend Freya will be able to play in the yard because we're getting a real fence! It got more than halfway done today, finished tomorrow.
November 14, 2025 at 2:35 AM
Y'all the fence guys have only been here 10 minutes and the yard already looks naked as they take out the old fence.

Sigh, somedays you try making a new pizza dough with some mods (King Arthur Sourdough Discard but...with active starter) and wind up with dough so wet you have to do a sheet pan pizza. It looks good though.

Lol, my little tortillas make for two bite al pastor tacos 😂
November 12, 2025 at 12:40 AM
When you commit to Taco Tuesday you go thru some fail tortillas until you get to okay-ish.

I appreciate that tonight is a night where Charlottesville residents are leaning into tomatoes, sausage, and beans to make something soup-ish for dinner on our first chilly freezing cold night of the year.
November 10, 2025 at 11:40 PM
Because it's supposed to freeze tonight I went ahead and trimmed some dahlias to bring inside this afternoon.
November 10, 2025 at 10:43 PM
Tonight's on the weather forecast to be the first freeze, so it's time to get the end of the season tomatoes. Ones in the pan are about to get roasted for tonight's soup dinner and I still have to pick a bowl of green tomatoes equal in size to the bowl here of ripe/has some color fruit. 🌱

Dammit, I want a sparkle reindeer.
November 8, 2025 at 5:24 PM
Look at the pretty fluffy creature that did a pass thru the garden at 4:30am.
November 6, 2025 at 2:31 PM
Ugh, 6 hours of cast iron pans marinating in Easy Off in a black plastic bag in the Sun was not enough. I guess I get to try again tomorrow and leave it for 24ish hours.
November 6, 2025 at 12:41 AM
Froobs and mama made it to the river again on walkies.

I'm digging all my cannas up this year so the fence installers don't have to deal with them in a couple days and....I think they've been happy by the driveway. 🌱

November 1st in Central Virginia: another 3 lbs of cherry tomatoes harvested. 🌱
November 1, 2025 at 1:59 PM
Temps turning cold and end of the garden season = roasted cherry tomatoes and garden basil and lemon thyme along with leftover jarred roasted peppers, some garlic and half an onion results in tomato soup with cheese toasts made with sourdough I baked this afternoon.
October 29, 2025 at 11:53 PM
Tonight in embracing new things for dinner: I made pork and apple sausage rolls with mashed potatoes and a salad made from garden radicchio.
October 26, 2025 at 11:32 PM
Today's 20 bloom havest of saffron and then...the other 118. 🌱
