Going to Mars is not a scam for the actual science community that wants to study it and our cosmos. It IS a scam for the world's richest man, who has gained excessive wealth on taxpayer-footed gov. contracts. Mars development will take that to exponential new highs. Earth suffers, he gets richer.

This comes at a time where thousands are still suffering from #HurricaneHelene. I was excited to move to North Carolina where I voted here for the first time last fall. I wish my vote could have done more. Where are those "Christian values" now? Starving people in need to make billionaires richer?

Elon wants more billions in U.S. gov "defense" contracts (he already has gleaned upwards of $32 billion in federal backing, footed by US taxpayers). His "multi planet species" speech, which I've heard more than once, isn't about saving humanity, much less Earth. It's about his wealth accumulation.

Why is this surprising? Agent Orange repeatedly sided with Daddy Vladdy during his first "term" instead of global allies and his own country. Why did people think he'd change course and behave better this time around, convicted felon and all? The biggest shame is that millions of voters chose this.

The "road to peace" is not the objective for cruel, power-hungry megalomaniacs. Making as much money as possible–at the expense of others' suffering– is....cashing in on "defense" contracts, gas & oil deals, etc.

Ironically, the U.S. is now allowing SpaceX to assess federal aviation safety, while firing FAA employees amid a workforce shortage of air traffic safety control professionals.

Voters sadly chose this. Fascism entails stifling the free press and attacking journalists who seek and cover the truth and facts.

Thank you for this vital journalism. I loved life in Pasadena where I hiked Eaton Canyon in Altadena daily or the Mt. Wilson Trail - both destroyed in the #EatonFire like Ben’s home. As a longtime climate solutions advocate, his work and story resonate on deepest levels.

I’ll never understand why American voters chose this path. Mother Nature will win in the end.
