The Stone Age didn’t end because we ran out of stone.

Society has changed before at the scale we need it to today: but that change was never catalyzed by presidents, PMs, or CEOs of the richest companies of the time.

The fossil fuel age won’t end until we ordinary people demand it does.
BP shifts course, boosting fossil fuel investments and cutting renewables
BP said on Wednesday it would increase annual oil and gas investment to $10 billion, returning the focus to fossil fuels, as part of CEO Murray Auchincloss' efforts to boost returns and improve financial performance.

I've interviewed NASA climate scientist Ben Hamlington over the years. Then I heard he lost his home in the Los Angeles wildfires. www.npr.org/2025/01/23/n...
This scientist studies climate change. Then the Los Angeles fire destroyed his home
Climate scientist Ben Hamlington works on understanding the impacts of climate change. Losing his house in the Eaton Fire has given that work new meaning.

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

Not by Gandhi but still very appropriate in these times.

The U.S. claims the hacking was commissioned by a lobbying firm working on behalf of one of the world's biggest oil companies.

I think this is one of my favourite colourful climate chart type things, because it depicts two things at once:

- Things are going to get worse, no matter what

- The degree to which they get worse depends on decisions made today

When the #ClimateEmergency hits home (again). Recently moved from beautiful Pasadena, California to North Carolina. Hard to comprehend what’s happened a few blocks north of where I lived on Lake Ave. Communities worldwide need clean energy & resiliency solutions now. #EatonFire

Yes. ExxonMobil's own scientists DID predict how much the planet would warm given continued fossil fuel burning. And they DID warn us about the "potentially catastrophic events" that would result from that warming in their 1982 internal memo.
