Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman has apparently called the race, even if it's not official yet- He just congratulated the winners on Facebook.

Tonight: Colorado Republicans gather in Aurora to hear Lara Logan, a former 60 Minutes journalist whose descent into QAnon led to her getting fired from Newsmax for saying that the world’s elites “want us eating ... cockroaches” while they “dine on the blood of children.”

After 5 hours of shouting, booing, and endless points of order, the CO GOP Central Committee vote to opt-out of the 2026 open primary failed, 226-196. It got a majority of those present, but it needed to get 75% of the total body, a threshold that is disputed, to say the least. #copolitics

Among the Colorado GOP #coleg members who signed a letter calling Denver's climate change campaign "an insult" and lacking "respect," is Rep. Ron Weinberg, who faces multiple allegations of sexual harassment and bullying from Republican women. #copolitics

Tonight, Colorado Senate Republican donors are paying $1000 to watch the league's worst team from its owners' suite, where they'll hang with Rox owner Dick Monfort and former Gov. Bill Owens, both of whom are best known for their accomplishments circa 2007.

GOP Chair Brita Horn announces a squeaker of final vote: Holtorf wins 204-193, becomes the party's new Vice Chair.
July 22, 2025 at 3:33 AM
Now Holtorf, citing his experience and a desire for a big-tent party. Rejects those who want to postpone mtg. Decries "personal attacks" against him- presumably those who mentioned his public comments on Boebert's attire. Promises a positive vision of the future. On to the vote!
July 22, 2025 at 3:12 AM
Finally, the Vice-Chair vote. First up MAGA bomb-thrower Mark Hampton, who runs a right-wing Facebook group, offers a no-apologies, no-looking-back approach to leadership. Attacks Holtorf, attacks Gabe Evans for his new immigration bill, and crucially, promises short meetings.
July 22, 2025 at 3:04 AM
Weston Imer, who previously tried to terminate the meeting, had resorted to holding a "Point of Order" Post-It up to his camera and now calls for the reading of the rules. He is rejected.
July 22, 2025 at 2:57 AM
After nearly 2hrs of technical difficulties, the Colorado GOP special mtg is finally underway. Its purpose is selecting a new Vice Chair. First up is Natl RNC Co-chair KC Crosbie, who talks about importance of election integrity, cites 200 lawsuits in '24.

Riggenbach makes various claims of election chicanery during the recent CD3 GOP re-org meeting. Her claims are disputed by RNC Committeewoman Christy Fidura, who also serves as an CD3 GOP officer, and is herself an election denier (of the 2020 variety).

Back from lunch, the Colorado GOP leadership election has been sidetracked by perennial #coleg candidate Carol Riggenbach, who has run for Rio Grande County's HD62 twice and has already declared for '26. She's also a "chemtrails" conspiracist. #copolitics
