Here in Norway when an immigrant puts on one of our national costumes, the Bunad (comes in many flavors), us on the right feel honored that somebody want to embrace us. The right-wingers feel offended: "How dare they pretend to be Norwegian!"

AfD is the latter kind of exlcutionary nationalism.

Actually he might be the new Werner von Braun. Von Braun was a SS member. Use concentration camp slave labour to build his rockets. He was willing to sacrifice anyone to get to the moon. He wasn't really a Nazi, but was fine being one if it let him send a rocket to the moon. Elon is same abt Mars

I always advocate a point made in the world's second oldest constitution, the Norwegian one. We top rank on press freedom in Norway and we long had a very good debate environment IMHO. And big reason is that our constitution requires the government to ensure enlightened discourse. That is the law.

You can get her in time for our populist right to cease power 🤮 In recent polls everything in politics here is turned on its head. The populist right has made a massive advancement. But at least Sylvi Listhaug isn't ready for retirement home. The world is really having the 1930s period.

You have to consider the Baumol. Especiall for young couples who just had a education, contemplate kids e.g. the very things they need to spend money have increased significantly: housing, childcare, college, health care. "Stuff" (iPad, cars, TVs) has gotten cheaper, but isn't a substitute really.

If you are curious, here is our article 100 of the Norwegian constitution. It is the second oldest constitution in the world after the US, and Norway tops the rank in press freedom world wide, so I think we did some things right. (Relevant sentence highlighted)

Taking the right serious is different from assuming some kind of dictatorial power. I am with Karl Popper here. A tolerant society cannot survive if it tolerates the intolerant. Freedom actually requires that you do more than offer "strong wording".

Not sure what to make of this, but it ought to put to rest the frequent and popular claim in American media that Europeans are too lazy and are big failures economically. In relative terms EU is outperforming the US. Japan and Canada are the laggards. Yet focus is always on Europe

I know all that. But he was early part of the company, and was instrumental in setting their strategy that produced their first car. Most of the company has been built up by Elon. It was a tiny startup when he came it. They had not released any products yet. That money wasn't Emeralds man Get a grip

These guys are following the script Aleksandr Dugin laid out in 1997 for how Russia could weaken and neutralized the US. Right-wingers like that play their assigned Kremlin roles perfectly and they are too dumb to get it.

Thiel is interesting as he confirms so many of my impressions from talking with #libertarians and classic liberals. A lot of them despite the image they nurture are autocratic. They fundamentally don’t like #democracy. That u can have freedom without democracy is a pipe dream.
