Loved being at South Side’s Black History Month Open House yesterday where 5th graders Semira and Mhiy'auna (Mya) created a presentation on me as their Black History Month project. It was such a treat meeting these smart, talented, and creative young ladies!

January’s highlight was teaching trial skills at Harvard Law School as part of Winter Term’s Trial Advocacy Workshop. It was so inspiring to learn from the other talented faculty of this course and witness the next generation of future legal superstars!

The #MissAmerica pageant is this weekend, so flashback to 22 years ago when I had the honor of being featured on the cover of Today’s Chicago Woman magazine as Miss America. I’ll always be grateful for having had the chance to represent IL and all of the strong women in our state!

A magnificent production of Les Misérables in Chicago! Aside from the gorgeous songs that stay w/you, part of the reason for this musical’s enduring potency is that it taps into still unresolved issues of injustice + inequality, yet affirms the power of redemption, faith, and sacrifice. #OneDayMore

Loved being w/the family last night to watch my amazing niece Gaby and the Whitney Young Lady Dolphins in the Kenner Klassic. My niece had 14 points in Whitney Young’s win! It’s so much fun to watch my niece and nephews grow and develop their talents! #ProudAuntie
