This is at the heart of the grief we feel at the firing of Federal scientists. Scientists go to school and train for years, and mostly don’t get rich or work easy hours. Why?

Because we get to look at the stars. We get to ask questions, and to try to use the answers to help people.

I wish we didn’t have to be here. I wish it was so different but we are here, and must stick together. Sigh big ole sigh.

Maybe we should hold our president to these standards: “Employees who engage in unlawful behavior or other misconduct will be prioritized for appropriate investigation and discipline, including termination.”
