Are LAN parties still a thing?

After running various experiments with some casual games and emulators (GBA, Switch), I am now stuck with #MassEffectLegendaryEdition . That's the second run after 10'ish years. The game aged well, legendary adjustments feel good, and the graphics are neat.

At the moment, I am playing the #SteamDeck on the couch while watching series and chatting.
It's less of an immersive experience than a 3h, all-alone, in the dark, PC gaming session. But much easier to fit into a short evening before heading to bed.

It took a bit for me as life-long PC gamer to get used to the handheld format. But the ergonomics are sensible, and the gyro makes even shooters way more appealing than I thought. However I still prefer more slow paced games.

But will pick Baldur's Gate III as it dominates all other games I have played
