EBO’s Piping Hot Plovers are racing around Erie County, bins in hand, attempting to defend our 2024 ‘PA Peerless’ #Blitz4Birds title (130 species in one day!) all while raising $$ for important bird conservation efforts in PA.

Great Lakes Piping Plovers keep us on our toes, both figuratively and literally. We’re continually awed by their tenacity and humbled by their resilience. We love that after SIX DECADES of extirpation from Pennsylvania beaches, Piping Plovers are finally back “home.” 🥰 (3/3)

They’ve been joined by a male nicknamed “Splitz”
(band combo O,L:X,L/O/L) that hatched last year at Tawas Point State Park in Michigan & a female (X,-:O,Y) nicknamed “Pebble” from Ontario.

We look forward to welcoming their adorable offspring to the world! (2/3)

Wilson’s Phalaropes are one of only two shorebird species that stop to molt during migration. And at some molting stopover points, particularly out west, Wilson's Phalaropes often eat so much they literally double their body weight- sometimes even to the point of being unable to fly! #themoreyouknow
