You are way more online and know the state of the site better than I do, but none of the people going after her were ones I recognized or seen treated as 'cool' before. And they seemed to have much smaller followings than the liberals I follow.

I would not have guessed that this too is a phenomenon of the Trump era. I was paying much more to the right of things at the time, so I think I misunderstand how influential Sanders has been.

Entirely depends on how risky they're going, but the more extreme the gerrymandering, the lower the bar for a blue wave making them flip.
Remember that gerrymandering is all about diluting 'sure' seats for more 'likely' seats. The more extreme you go, the narrower margin you're playing with.
