Just a guy lurking on the net, working on a little enlightenment.
Fortunate son, happy husband, proud father.
Privileged white guy who graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and knows how f***ed up that was.
Worked hard, paid my taxes, if only...

I think of the journey all privileged white folks, particularly those with some past power, must make given the reality of our collective past and the work still to do.

Listening to Coates and being true to our values is a good step.

I love your piece, its insights for us all and how it invites us to struggle with issues and not just dunk on Klein.

I have no basis to judge Klein's heart. Perhaps he is a lost bright-kid. Another author suggests America's past 50 years have been like a childhood for many.

No comment on New Yorker-specific concerns one way or the other.

The New Yorker is owned by Condé Nast. They also own Wired. They are doing good work to hold this regime to account.

I think I saw mention that Condé Nast might be bought by Skydance who are purchasing Paramount. That would be bad.

Yes! And adopting a "statute of limitations" approach avoids the need for periodic "amnesty" fights or kicking the can down the road for decades.

Try making your own list. I made a “short list” with a subset of the people I follow. You can pin a list among your feeds. I look at it if I only want to check on latest from some. Can do on phone with no coding.

I may regret this, but I read it was:

Stop saying: "All tariffs are bad because they raise prices-- that's what got us de-industrialization."

Start shouting: "Trump's unhinged on-again off-again tariffs on our staunch allies are unconstitutional, illegal, AND they raise prices & kill export jobs.
