Also why they're always employed. /2

An example of why politics is harder than it looks. There's a million inputs in an election, and one output (who wins). Trying to figure which input actually won the race is often impossible and incredibly subjective. Which is why pollsters/strategists/operatives/pundits frequently fight. /1

Does he really want government to be able to challenge whether religious beliefs are sincerely held?

Because…. hoooo boy, that list gets long fast.

At what point do we just admit the Republicans are better at hostage taking than Democrats?
November 11, 2025 at 11:28 PM
Trading something in exchange for extending Obamacare tax credits? If only Dems had something Senate Republicans wanted? Hmmmm.…. Wonder what that could be? Something? Anything? It’ll come to me….

Ah. Thank you for that missing piece.

Also, still not clear why Trump has to get involved for the governor of NC to call out the.... NC national guard

Dave, I agree there's not much of an audience for this, but it's not because his story was already told. Every PA dem I know is absolutely furious with him.

Also. Could got that vote weeks ago.

I empathize. God help you if you want to bundle and it finds out you have an existing ESPN or Disney account.

Who ever doubted Thune would keep his word on putting it to a vote?

Far too many Dems think getting a vote on the credits is a win. I think that's a good barometer of whether you've been in DC too long.
November 10, 2025 at 6:36 PM
Oh, totally agree. I myself am pretty down today. And Chris Murphy alluded to this effect a few days ago as well. It seems the argument for new, bolder leaders grows everyday.
November 10, 2025 at 5:17 PM
Call me cynical but I personally think the reason some D's never made the ACA credits an explicit red line is because part of their calculus was higher insurance premiums = more motivated Dem voters next November.
November 10, 2025 at 5:07 PM
I find this silly. If there were 8 Senate Republican votes to extend the ACA credits, they could have likely ended the shutdown weeks ago.

And even if there are 8 votes in Dec, this path ends in the extensions being killed in the House.

Coulda had this outcome weeks ago.
November 10, 2025 at 4:24 PM
As I feared, extending the ACA credits was never a real red line for Senate Dems. My guess is they think NOT extending them helps Dems politically next November so they’re just fine with this outcome.
November 10, 2025 at 12:45 AM
...not to mention they had no problem illegally tapping R&D accounts to find money to pay military salaries a few weeks ago. #TrumpShutdown

They're going to hire 10,000 ICE agents in a year with incentives such as loan forgiveness and giant signing bonuses, but OMG! where will we every find people to replace retiring air traffic controllers?
November 9, 2025 at 3:00 PM
I find the “competition drives down costs” such a red herring for healthcare. When a doctor says the best medication for your cancer/heart condition/dementia is X, how many people are going to ask “that’s great…is there something almost as good but a little cheaper?”
November 8, 2025 at 7:26 PM
I believe the overton window for Medicare for All has shifted since Obamacare has passed (although I don't have any polling to back that up). As premiums keep going up, even with subsidies, and care is still crazy difficult to navigate, there is growing pressure to really change the system.
November 8, 2025 at 4:19 PM
Yes, I thought of that interpretation after I posted. Agree that would be super dangerous.

Its not insurance at that point. If you get really sick, you're out of pocket for all the costs. Would bankrupt many.
