Almost 5 years as president now and he has no idea how government appropriations work.
It's very clear he thinks all spending decisions are made by, and go through, him, like back in the Trump Organization days.

Turns out the sweetheart deal that Trump's former Labor Secretary Alex Acosta gave Epstein back in 2008 was even worse than we thought. Epstein's emails show Acosta tanked an investigation that had Epstein dead to rights on money laundering, and other financial crimes.

But Republicans insist this a "end of the year" problem to fix.
Open enrollment for ACA plans began yesterday in Idaho.
One couple got notice that their monthly premium next year would jump from $51 to $2,232 as subsidies expire.
25,000 Idahoans are expected to be priced out of coverage.
This is what's at stake in Trump's shutdown.

@bbkogan.bsky.social brings the goods on paying the military during the shutdown. Essential follow these days.
Trump's mechanism to pay the troops during the shutdown is by far the most illegal budgetary action he's taken as POTUS, potentially setting the stage to break everything.
It's also needless because Congress would easily pass a troop pay bill if Johnson were willing to gavel in.
Long thread.

I know everyone here likes to play armchair strategist but is anyone concerned that Democrats have not been more assertive laying out their actual red lines to open up the government and pass a budget.

*an ACA extension
*an end to Russ Vought and Trump deciding on their own whether to spend money appropriated by Congress.
If those 2 things were on the CR, neither of which have anything to do with illegal immigrants, I think every D would vote for it.
