So with photogenic daughter now at uni, my wife has decided that I am her new model for the various things she makes as part of her fabric business...

My wife is into patchworking to the extent that she set up her own patchwork fabric supply business (see link in my bio). Net result is that she now has little time for patchworking... This is the first quilt she has completed for well over a year. See Alt text […]

Lazy Sunday morning with tea in bed. Also displayed is our solution to having chocolate biscuits (when you live with a teenager who will demolish an entire packet of normal ones - plain Digestives appear to be safe from his biscuit radar!)

Firebrand premièred this new radio play at this year's DunsPlayFest. Presented on stage as a radio play it was remarkably spell binding. Great to see them touring it.

DunsPlayFest is all about love.”

This was one of the home-grown new plays at this year's DunsPlayFest 'Doom and Dread'. A young woman's battle with negative male-expressed thoughts of doom & dread. Amusingly written and brilliantly acted.

One of the more niche exhibits at Kelham Island Museum is this set of rapper swords made by Tysak, in Sheffield. Strips of spring steel with handles fitted at both ends, used for Rapper dancing (a fast sword dance tradition that evolved around the pit villages of Tyneside in the late 19th century).

I used to live in Sheffield, before I became an industrial archaeologist. Never visited Kelham Island Museum then, but went there for the first time yesterday. Well worth a visit!

Visited Port William in Galloway at the weekend, finding this statue illustrating the poem:

"What is this life, if full of care,
we have no time to stand and stare?"
