And so it was that throughout the lands, as news readers named Watson and Crick as the discoverers of the DNA helix, a rousing chorus of “Rosalind Franklin” was directed towards the news.

Gemini identified this creature as a golden retriever, an Akita.
A lovely dog whatever the breed and a capybara.

The refreshing lack of repetitive and tedious announcements on trains in Europe is so lovely.

Tomorrow is likely to be a tricky travel day but I have spent the last 10 days travelling around France Switzerland and Austria mostly by train and it has been fantastic. Reliable. Decent trains. I am going to miss this. Especially the views. Beats flying hands down. Or driving!

I was in Paris this morning and there no sign of anything happening. Everybody going about their normal day.

Watching the Labour government fuck everything in order to pander to a minority of racists/against everything ists that will never in a million years vote for them is certainly interesting.

King and conqueror is a pile of steaming horse manure. Truly terrible script, historically dodgy and um needlessly dark and dingy.

Buffy starting the week well.

Lovely chatty parkrun this morning and an unexpected meet up with an old friend. Social scampers on a Saturday morning.

A little marshalling this morning at Abingdon parkrun.

Today’s parkrun was a damp one. Ran around with a coming back from injury husband and a friend who recently had an argument with a tree on her bike. Between the 3 of us we may have one okay leg! Somehow I collected my fastest time for about 6 weeks. I quite like a run in the rain!

Today‘s parkrun involved two of my friends hitting their 50 milestones and me taking all the skin off my left leg below the knee. Trail rash and lost of dignity not recommended.

Buffy has lived with us for eight years. She is now just over nine and the happiest of cats. A giant friend kitten to everyone.

Been playing in the French Alps for the last few days and honestly it has been the best time I have had since I got back from Switzerland last summer.

Today’s unofficial parkrun in La Belle France was a belter!

Abingdon parkrun had its 600th event this morning. I ran around with friends. Husband was RD. I think I have volunteered or ran or walked in just over half of the Abingdon events.

Nigel Farage wants to reopen coal mines in Wales.

Wales had the highest rate of respiratory death in Western Europe due, in part, to our industrial heritage.

The mines also devastated our environment and there remains thousands of people living below dangerous coal tips.

For the first time in a long time I don’t have a running training plan to follow. I went here this morning.

Starmer’s immigration focus is the dumbest, stupidest piece of political manoeuvring I’ve seen in a long time. His rhetoric is going to split his coalition and whatever he promises will only drive the racists to demand more. You can’t placate them. It’s a losing strategy.

My mother would have been 90 a month ago. Her memories of VE Day were mostly of disbelief. Wartime was pretty much all she could remember. She told me once that the greatest things that had happened in her life were greater union with Europe and the NHS.

Some Welsh contributions to railway history – part one

So many historic achievements happened first in Wales, yet most people don’t seem to know it. The first-ever steam locomotive is a perfect case in point

I rode my bike today for the first time in maybe 2 years. I had major surgery 2.5 years ago and got back on my bike way too soon. Today was a much nicer experience if cold. Core muscle strength for the win.
