Working mom trying to be a better parent while navigating a failed system. Sometimes I have time for hobbies. Most of the time I'm in survival mode.
This calm morning playlist isn't really doing the job. Maybe it's the two kids running around and screaming, maybe it's the not-quite-finished home reno project, maybe it's the weather. Who knows.

Our weekend wasn't stressful enough so we decided to fight for our lives as a family at Costco the day before the Superbowl.

Today school is closed due to weather, and I have to sign my kid up for summer camp (in the most manual way possible), fill out intake forms to start her therapy, pick up a new sleep sack for the mobile baby, and submit my dependent care FSA docs for daycare. I also have a full time job. #parenting

It's been snowing in the PNW. As a native Californian, I love the feeling I get from seeing snow blanket the streets and our lawns. It's a kind of coziness I can still feel even while bundled up in snow gear while walking my kid to school.

Can someone who's experienced with these things tell me if our new cat is comfortable in our house yet? I can't tell.

My Gen Z coworker has me reading the Empyrean series. I'm a few chapters into Fourth Wing and I don't hate it. But I'm disappointed in this generation's approach to trending book series releases. She didn't even take the day off work to wait for the mail and spend the rest of the day reading!

Just finished Robin Wall Kimmerer's The Serviceberry. Again, the themes of interdependence and community as a way of thriving through hard times come up. Then the call to action to become part of the gift economy. Definitely needed to read this this week!

Leaning into action and joy this week through my babies, my hobbies, and building my micro community of moms. It's my small act of rebellion!

Currently laying next to my secondborn while she naps and I wonder again why FTM me ever thought my baby needed to fall asleep independently. If I'd known better, it would have saved me so much trouble! #connectedparent #momlife #parentlife #nurture

"At least with knitting I can't accidentally sew the wrong parts together!" She said, confidently, before using a loose tail from the sleeve to pick up neck stitches. #knitting #knittingmistakes

Just once I'd like to open the dryer and not find a load of clothes we forgot about. #parentlife

Tonight I put on the Christmas apron I inherited from my late grandmother and realized that it was likely homemade. Love it all the more now. I can still hear and see her commanding her kitchen on Christmas Eve, wearing this apron.

I love it when recipes say to cook something for 3-4 minutes on medium high and it'll be fully cooked.

Shout out to all the parents in the "read the same book over and over until you die" phase of #parenting.

First parent/teacher conference thoughts: hearing your child described to you by another adult who sees them daily is a very interesting experience.

That feeling of validation when your baby's sleep has been crap for the last week and you finally see the new tooth poking through.
