If you take anything away from the teachings of Jesus, take away this:

The principalities and powers of this world do what is sound, practical, and self-serving . Jesus calls us to do what is right, just, and self-sacrificing.

50501 Movement upholds a strict and unwavering commitment to nonviolence. We do not condone, support, or tolerate any form of violence, threats, or the destruction of property—whether public or private.

Our mission is rooted in integrity, accountability, and nonviolent action.

Christ says what we do for “the least of these” we do for him — so where is Christ today?

Christ is the immigrant deported without due process.

Christ is the protester kidnapped in an unmarked vehicle.

Christ is the student in an overcrowded classroom in a defunded school.

Your responsibility is a “to—”:
you can never save yourself by a “not to.”

Christian moralizing & petty finger-wagging are destroying the Church.
True Christian witness shows the world how to welcome the shunned, lift the poor and oppressed, and help the suffering.

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die.

Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

My friend @davidlat.bsky.social just published an email Paul Weiss chair Brad Karp sent to the firm. This excerpt is the most chilling. This is how constitutional republics die -- when rivals see a violation of fundamental rights not as an injustice, but as a business opportunity:

I spoke with a pastor recently who told me of receiving a letter from departing members telling how they had found “a Republican church that honors Trump.”

What a strange time we’re passing through.

Last week in our Thursday night Bible study here in Houston we talked about how, in God‘s economy, the confident are the reliant. A stark contrast to the world around us where confidence is conflated with independence, boastfulness and the accumulation of power. We don’t reason as the world reasons.

Trump’s cure for D.E.I. isn’t a true meritocracy, but rather affirmative action for the MAGA movement.

Trump is gutting Christian ministries that serve the poor . . . while MAGA Christians cheer.

And if you object to the human suffering they cause, then they accuse you of displaying "toxic empathy."

Composure, Saints! This is a vital witness to our faith in Christ in any era of chaos.

Upon waking, let us meet with Jesus and trade our fear & anger for his courage & compassion.

Rely on God.
Read Scripture.
Be brave.
Pray valiantly.
Act like grownups.
Help the hurting.
Love defiantly.
