Now is a good time to share this little writeup I did recently.

Don't get it twisted: they are banning hypnosis and other kinks because credit card companies want to put stricter and stricter fences around NSFW content in order to get rid of it completely, and yes, it's political.
It is possible at some point about 25-30 years ago there was a chargeback case about erotic hypnosis that caused credit card companies to label this as high risk. I HAVE NEVER SEEN GENUINE PROOF OF THIS. I have ALWAYS heard this as hearsay -- this story has spread like wildfire over the past 10 years. We need to start taking this with a grain of salt, because even if it was true at one point, this is no longer why hypnosis is blacklisted, and the truth is worse (but we have slightly more power over how we can help). I can tell you what we DO have genuine proof of, beginning with the Fetlife bans (Fetlife had a lawyer from the NCSF trying to track down an answer for why credit card companies were suddenly asking them to ban a bunch of fringe kinks like hypnosis) and continuing until now. Credit card companies DON'T like that hypnosis looks like nonconsent, and that it is fringe sexuality. Payment processors do not want to be associated with sexuality and adult content, and are closing the circle rapidly around what they will process in NSFW settings. Fully legal and compliant SWs get blacklisted by banks all the time. It is exactly like how a hyper-conservative group wants to ban ALL porn so they went after "nonconsensual" videos on PornHub -- and it worked, both in public image and removing a huge swath of fully consensual videos from the platform. People don't like when there is politics in kink but this is 100%, unquestionably a political issue. We have seen a huge rise in the US of bills trying to ban all porn full-stop (and they are transparent that they want this to extend to queer and trans expression). I'm sorry but the answer is not that hypnosis is seen as a high chargeback risk. It's politics. People all the time are like "but real hypnosis is very consensual!" They literally don't care and you will never convince them. It's adult content, so they want it gone, and it's an easy target because it LOOKS like noncon. Help means speaking up + calling reps.
